1.The main function of the ball mill liner is to protect the mill body and drive the grinding balls inside the mill to perform a cascading motion to crush and grind the material. To this end, the mill liner is required to have sufficient lifting and disturbing capabilities for the grinding balls. Studies have shown that it is difficult for the liner to effectively lift the grinding balls during the operation of the mill. At this time, the intensity of the steel ball movement in the mill decreases, which in turn leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the mill in crushing materials. At the same time, due to the substandard height difference between the peaks and valleys of the liner, the grinding balls and the cylinder liner undergo intense relative sliding motion. This problem leads to the occurrence of plow groove wear on the mill liner, which not only accelerates the wear of the mill liner but also causes premature failure of the liner due to the bottom of the plow groove being worn through first.
2. In the design process of the current mill liner, designers simply assume that the wear of the mill liner is uniform wear, so the recess on the back of the liner is designed as a circular arc recess. However, this is not the case.
During the operation of the mill, the reaction force on the top of the liner wave crest during the lifting of the grinding balls is particularly strong, so this part will undergo strong cutting wear, and therefore the wear is the most serious. The design of the circular arc recess on the back of the liner makes the thickness of the liner basically uniform. The rapid wear of the top of the wave crest will cause this part to be worn through first, leading to premature failure of the liner.
3. Traditional mill liners are mostly made of high manganese steel, using its unique work hardening characteristics to achieve its wear resistance. However, under grinding conditions, high manganese steel cannot be fully hardened. High-strength and tough wear-resistant cast steel is generally used, with a hardness of HRC45-60. The hardness of this liner is moderately low, so the wear resistance is generally low. If the hardness of the liner itself can be improved, the wear resistance of the liner will be improved, and the service life will also be greatly improved.
